We purchased our 1st home in California last May. I cannot believe that it has already been an entire year! We have literally gutted and redone almost everything in the house with the exception of the master bedroom and bathroom, which is always last for us anyway! The office has not received too much attention either, but it's okay for now, and HOPEFULLY it will become a nursery here pretty soon anyway, so I'm going to hold off on that particular room.
Since school got out I have had time to actually go through stuff and organize the house a little bit better than I did when we first moved in. Recently, Kevin built beds for the girls and I have been working really hard to get all of their stuff in order so they can have a fabulous and girly bedroom. It's coming along, but it's a work in progress, as are all things in our house at the current time.
This is the girls' room when we first got the house. The old carpet was removed and this was before the horrible days of scraping off old wallpaper! This house was originally a model home when the neighborhood was built in 1991, so everything was done very nicely, but the colors...WOW! It was 1991, what more can I say?
Here are some pictures of their room now...
This is Reese's side.
And this is Zoë's side. I couldn't bear to stop using their adorable crib bedding, so I tried to find things to incorporate and make it all work together!
I have been wanting to get the girls a new dresser because the one they had was from their nursery and had a place for a changing pad on top. I decided to give their black dresser to our friends, AJ and Jordan, who are expecting a baby in November. And it was the perfect excuse to get the girls a new one. I saw some people selling furniture on the corner a few weeks ago, and decided to go check their stuff out last weekend. I got a bargain on this dresser for the girls' room and it looks adorable in there!

My next project was their closet...UGH. It took me an entire day, but by the end there were only clothes that fit and that they actually wear. I weeded out SO many toys too, which was nice. My sister gave the girls an adorable wooden doll house with a million wooden people and furniture and they LOVE it! It's pretty much all that they play with, and it's really cute, so it put it in the living room on the side of the piano. These are literally the ONLY other toys that they have and I am so glad because I get really annoyed after birthdays and Christmases when they have SO many new toys and don't even play with half of them! Hopefully they will find new homes after the yard sale...

Reese and Zoë have A LOT of clothes! But they wear them all, and they will be nice to give away or hand down when they grow out of them...This is about half of what they had because I still had long sleeves in their closet and it's too hot now! I kept a few irreplaceable things in bins on the top of the closet just in case I ever have another little girl!!
Hopefully my yard sale will be a success. I have never had one, but I think we have some really good stuff that may be of value to someone else! If not, I suppose we will take it to Goodwill and they can have some donations. Our current project is the hallway! But I'll save that for another day...
